Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Royals have signed goaltender Nick Niedert to an ECHL contract. The Royals also activated forward David Civitarese from the team's Reserve List.
This is the second stint in Reading for Niedert (5'8/185) (30), an eighth year pro from Hudson, Iowa. He made 20 saves in sixty-five minutes of hockey-and one of three in the ensuing shootout-in a 3-2 shootout loss for Reading to the Wheeling Nailers on October 27, 2012. In addition to the Royals, Niedert has been with five teams in four different leagues, including stints with the Orlando Solar Bears (did not appear) and Gwinnett Gladiators (0-3-0-0, 3.68, .825 in four appearances) in the ECHL.
The Royals take on the Orlando Solar Bears at Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania tonight (Friday, March 8 @ 7:05 pm) when the Royals will host Slapshot's Birthday celebration presented by the Miller Law Group. The first 1000 fans eighteen years of age and older tonight will receive a travel mug courtesy of the Perfetto Insurance Agency. There will be a post-game 'Clam Shoot' courtesy of the Ugly Oyster. The game day broadcast tonight will kick off on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm at 6:35 pm with the Pre-Game Warm-Up Show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru.
