F Yannick Tifu increased the Royals lead to 2-0 when he snapped a shot from the top of the right circle on the power play 11:31. Reading outshot the Solar Bears 17-9 during the middle period.
The two sides continued to skate to a 2-0 score late into the third period. Orlando pulled G Zoltan Hetenyi in an effort to make a late push, but F Nikita Kashirsky ended the Orlando threat with an empty net goal with 39 seconds left to play to give Reading a 3-0 victory.
