Heemskerk Recalled to San Jose

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls Professional Hockey Team, proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced today that San Jose has recalled goaltender Thomas Heemskerk. He is practicing with the Sharks today. Heemskerk is filling in for the injured Thomas Greiss.

Heemskerk, 22, gets his first NHL call-up. He is 13-18-2 with the Bulls this season, with a 3.16 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage. In his rookie season in 2011-12, he appeared in four games with the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League, going 0-1-0. He also went 13-12-0 with the Stockton Thunder. The Chilliwack, British Columbia, native played four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Kootenay Ice, Everett Silvertips and Moose Jaw Warriors before turning pro. Heemskerk is under contract with San Jose.

The Bulls continue their stretch of 10 games on home ice in the final 13 games this Friday against the Alaska Aces for Eco-Friendly Weekend. The first 1,000 fans, 13 and over, receive a reusable grocery bag on Friday and on Saturday the first 500 fans, 13 and over, receive a traveler's cup, courtesy of BART. Get to the games by picking up the free shuttles at the Balboa Park BART station.
