Titans Work Roster up to Trade Deadline

March 8, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Titans News Release

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers, have announced three separate trades made prior to the ECHL's 3 pm trade deadline. First they have traded the rights to defenseman Ryan Grimshaw to South Carolina. Next, they have received the rights to defenseman Sean Duddy from Cincinnati. Finally, the Titans have traded forward Kevin M. Baker to Ontario for future considerations.

Grimshaw (Rochester, NY) was originally loaned to Toronto (AHL) on January 7. He has played 12 games for the Marlies this year, grabbing 11 PIM and a -2 rating. With the Titans, the Harvard grad had six points (3G, 3A) in 23 games and was a solid defenseman. The trading of his rights completes the trade with South Carolina that brought Mike Ullrich to Trenton.

The receipt of the rights for Duddy (Ann Arbor, MI) completes the trade that sent the rights to defenseman Marcel Alvarez to Gwinnett. The 23-year old defenseman didn't dress for the Cyclones, but he did play 18 games over the last two seasons with Gwinnett. He had four assists in 11 games this season for the Gladiators.

In his first professional season, Baker (Brampton, Ontario) now joins his fifth team in the Ontario Reign. He had played for San Francisco (11 games), South Carolina (8) and Florida (7) before joining the Titans. In 13 games with Trenton, Baker had a goal and an assist with a -10 rating. Overall he has played 39 pro games, scoring six goals with four assists and a -20 rating.

The Trenton Titans returned in the 2011-12 hockey season after a five year hiatus and boasted a 26.1% increase in attendance over the previous year, the largest of any team in the (then) 20-team ECHL.
