Colorado Eagles to Hold Second "Pot of Gold" Community Fundraiser
March 8, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - Last year, the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL announced a community fundraising program centered around the St. Patrick's Day holiday in which the organization would spearhead efforts to help change the luck of a local family in need. Thanks to the generosity of Colorado Eagles fans and corporate partners, the team was able to raise over $26,000 for Addi Hawks -- a young girl in need of a liver transplant -- during the first ever "Pot of Gold" fundraiser.
This year, the Eagles will help raise money for Jaycie Love, a seven-year old girl from Loveland, Colo. who was diagnosed with leukemia last November. Through the donations of fans and the auctioning off of special jerseys, the team hopes to change the Love family's luck this year. To help raise awareness for Jaycie and the Pot of Gold fundraiser, the Eagles will be using the twitter hashtags "Love4Love" & "PotOfGold."
Just like last year, donations will be collected from fans in attendance on March 16 by members of Larimer & Weld Sheriff's departments who will be stationed throughout the Budweiser Events Center collecting money in their pots. In addition, the Eagles will be wearing Irish themed jerseys -- complete with a heart-shaped patch that reads "Love" -- which will be up for bid on the concourse until the start of the third period. The jerseys also feature shoulder patches with the Lucky Joe's logo in recognition of the local business' support of the Pot of Gold program.
The Eagles have also set up a special ticket offer in which $5 from select ticket purchases will be directly donated to the Love family. If fans would like to help raise money by simply buying a ticket to the game, they can use the promo code "LOVE" when purchasing their ticket to the March 16 game online at www.ComcastTix.com or mention it when calling the Eagles' office at (970) 686-SHOT (7468); select seating areas only.
