The Week Ahead:
Tuesday, March 23, 2004 Vs Florence â 7:05 @ North Charleston Coliseum

Florence has won the last three games against the Stingrays including two straight at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Stingrays are 3-3 this season against the Pride. This is the last game of the season between the two rivals.
At The Coliseum: Two for Tuesday. Two for one upper level one tickets, two for one hot dogs and cokes and two dollar beers.

The winner of this home and home series will take home the Alltel Palmetto Cup. The Stingrays have a record of 1-2 this season against the Inferno. The Rays face Columbia three times out of their last seven games.

Columbia is the only team in the Southern Division that has clinched a playoff spot... The Stingrays only win of the season against Columbia came at the Carolina Coliseum on November 3rd. The Rays lost 3-1 to Columbia at home on October 31st in the Inferno's only visit of the season to this point.

After dominating Columbus last season the Stingrays have a record of 2-2 this year against the Cottonmouths. The Rays lost 3-1 in their last visit to Columbus on February 21st. Columbus is battling for a playoff spot in the Central Division with a record of 35-23-7.

Tuesday, March 16, 2004, Stingrays 4 Vs Alaska 1
Curtis Huppe helped the Rays break a 1-1 tie in the third period with two goals to help the Stingrays pull away to a 4-1 lead. David Brumby won his first game since February 22 making 32 saves for his eighth win of the season as the Stingrays snapped a three game losing skid.
Friday, March 19, 2004 Stingrays 4 Vs Alaska 3 SO
South Carolina came from behind three times to beat Alaska for the second straight game. The Rays improved to 7-1 against the Pacific Division. David Brumby had a big night making 46 saves and stopping all five shots in the shootout. Ed Courtenay's shootout goal was the difference.
Saturday, March 20, 2004 Stingrays 2 @ Roanoke 4
South Carolina jumped ahead with a Mike Barrie goal in the first minute of the game, but Roanoke answered with the next three goals including two goals in the first three minutes of the first period. Kirk Daubenspeck suffered his third straight loss in the game as Roanoke kept its playoff hopes alive.
The Team:
The Stingrays are alone in third place in the Southern Division with a record of 36-25-3. The team went 2-1 this week with two home wins and won road loss. The Stingrays are just one point behind the Florida Everblades for second place in the Southern Division. South Carolina is 5-5-0 in its last ten games and is now 17-13-1 at home and 19-12-2 on the road. The Stingrays boast the best road power play in the ECHL at 23.9%. The Stingrays are 19-14-2 against teams in the Southern Division and 17-11-1 against the other divisions. The Rays are 4-2 in overtime games, 6-1 in shootout games and 15-3-3 in one goal games overall. When they score first, the Stingrays are 22-8-2. South Carolina has allowed just 2.77 goals against per game this season which ranks 11th in the league. Offensively the team is ranked 22nd averaging 2.83 goals per game. The Rays power play improved to 11th in the league at 18.8% and the team is ranked 17th on the penalty kill at 82%
The Players:
Goaltender David Brumby won both games he started this week. Both wins came at home over the Alaska Aces. Brumby made 32 saves for a 4-1 win on Tuesday night, his first win since February 22, and 46 saves for a 4-3 shootout win on Friday evening. Brumby also stopped all five shots in the shootout. Curtis Huppe is riding a four game point streak that has seen him score four goals and add three assists. Mike Barrie has scored points in each of his last six games. He has a goal and seven assists on the streak. Ed Courtenay, the Stingrays leading scorer, has seven points in his last five games on two goals and five assists.
Hall of Fame:
Brett Marietti and Rob Concannon were inducted into the South Carolina Stingrays Hockey Hall of Fame on Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum in a first intermission ceremony. Marietti and Concannon join Rick Vaive and Mark Bavis in the Hall. Marietti, a product of Haileybury, Ontario was the Captain of the South Carolina Stingrays for eight of his nine seasons from 1994-2003, Brett is the Stingrays all-time leader in games played with 550 and penalty minutes with 1127. Marietti scored over 200 goals and 500 points in his ten seasons as a professional which included a season with the Rochester Americans. Rob Concannon played in 310 games with the Stingrays from 1995 to 2003. A native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, he is fourth on the all-time Stingrays point list with 231 points on 111 goals and 120 assists.
