Wranglers sweep Steelheads, Ice Dogs

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers went 3-0-0 this week with back-to-back wins at home over Idaho and a win in Long Beach. Friday night the Wranglers shutout the Steelheads 5-0 in front of 6,986 Las Vegas edged Idaho 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night in front of 7,242. Sunday the Wranglers concluded their week with a 3-1 win in Long Beach.

This week the Wranglers will host the Fresno Falcons on Friday at 7:05 pm. Friday Las Vegas will hand out Wranglers' beach towels to the first 1,500 fans. Saturday night the Wranglers will host the Bakersfield Condors at 7:05 at the Orleans Arena.

This Week's Opponents

Bakersfield Condors– (22-36-9) – LV leads series 8-0-0

Las Vegas has yet to lose to the Condors this season. Center Kevin Riehl leads the Condors with 19 goals and 37 assists for 56 points in 64 games. Rookie winger Jon Mirasty is second in the ECHL with 325 penalty minutes and first with 31 major penalties. The Condors are 9-21-4 on the road this year. The Wranglers have outscored the Condors 34-18 in the season series. Winger Paul Rosebush has 12 points (8G-4A) in his last eight games. The Wranglers will give away Duke dolls to the first 2,000 fans for Saturday night in honor of the team mascot's birthday.

Fresno Falcons – (20-38-6) – LV leads series 7-2-1

Friday night will mark the final time this season the Wranglers and Falcons meet. Las Vegas won the first five meetings. Fresno is 2-2-0 since falling 9-1 in Las Vegas on January 31st. Kris Porter leads Fresno in scoring with 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points in 62 games. Las Vegas winger Eric Schneider has 12 points (8G-5A) in five games against the Falcons. The Wranglers will give away Beach Towels to the first 1,500 fans at Friday night's game.

Las Vegas 5 vs. Idaho 0

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Idaho Steelheads 5-0 at the Orleans Arena Friday night in front of 6,986 fans. Marc Magliarditi led Las Vegas by stopping all 32 Steelhead shots for his 28th victory of the season. Newcomer Morten Ask and winger Doug Wright each tallied two goals in the victory. Tom Nelson added a goal and two assists in the win. Magliarditi, the ECHL's all-time shutouts leader, notched his 20th career shutout and second with Las Vegas. Magliarditi's two shutouts as a Wrangler have come in his last three starts. The game marked the first time this season Idaho was shutout.

Saturday, March 20th

Las Vegas 4 vs. Idaho 3 OT

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Idaho Steelheads 4-3 in overtime Saturday night in front of 7,242. Eric Schneider scored the game-winning goal with 7.5 seconds to play in overtime for the team's fourth straight win. Dany Sabourin stopped a team record 51 shots in the win. Morten Ask and Doug Wright each added a goal for the Wranglers. Schneider finished the night with two goals and an assists. Ask tallied a goal and two assists. The team set a new record for attendance topping opening night's 7,208.

Saturday, March 21st

Las Vegas 3 at Long Beach 1

Long Beach, CA – The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs at the Long Beach Arena 3-1 on Sunday night. Las Vegas finished the season series with a 7-2-0 record against their Pacific division rivals. Goalie Dany Sabourin made 28 saves leading the Wranglers to their fifth straight win. Jeff Attard, Mike McBain, and Morten Ask scored as Las Vegas improved to 10-2-0 in their last 12 games.

Playoff seats for the 2004 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs starting April 6th are now on sale. The playoff package includes all 13 possible home games dating up to May 23rd.
