The Johnstown Chiefs (40-20-6; 86 PTS; 4th Northern div.) moved to within two points of third place Atlantic City and three points within second place Peoria after going 2-1-0 last week. The Chiefs picked up road wins in Atlantic City and Cincinnati before losing at home to Dayton. The Chiefs will play four games in five nights this week. Wednesday they are in Atlantic City, Friday at Wheeling, followed up with home games Saturday versus Trenton and Sunday versus Cincinnati. The Chiefs will clinch a playoff spot with their next win or regulation tie.

GAME #64 (3/17/04) Johnstown 3 - ATLANTIC CITY 2 Mather Goal, Assist

The Johnstown Chiefs gave one of their strongest efforts of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at Boardwalk Hall. Trailing 2-0 late in the third period, Chris Leinweber scored a power play goal with just 2:26 remaining. Shawn Mather tied the game with his 21st goal of the season with just 0:59 left in regulation. The Chiefs won the shootout by a score of 1-0 with a Dimitri Tarabrin goal. Chiefs goaltender David Currie was named the games #1 star making 34 saves and stopping all five Atlantic City shooters in the shootout. Scott Stirling made 30 saves for the Boardwalk Bullies.

GAME #65 (3/20/04) Johnstown 3 - CINCINNATI 2 Forget Goal, Assist

The Chiefs picked up their fifth straight win Saturday night with a 3-2 come from behind win at Cincinnati. The Chiefs trailed for much of the contest before scoring three third period goals, including two in the last 1:59. Jason Notermann (PPG), Dominic Forget (GWG), and Larry Courville all scored. Goaltender David Currie made 34 saves for his 17th win of the season.

GAME #66 (3/21/04) Dayton 5 - JOHNSTOWN 1 Kelly Goal

After a two and a half hour delay to the start of the game, the Johnstown Chiefs could not muster up any offense as they fell to the visiting Dayton Bombers 5-1, Sunday afternoon at the War Memorial. The game was delayed due to poor ice conditions from the BMX motorcycle show at the arena Saturday night. Dayton got two goals from Oliver Proulx. Janne Jokila, Scott Cameron and Chad Theuer also scored for Dayton who won their fourth straight game. The Chiefs lone goal came from Brent Kelly. The loss ended the Chiefs five game winning streak. Bombers goaltender Dave Marlin got his first win of the season making 42 saves. Chiefs goaltender David Currie suffered the loss making 24 saves.

Wednesday night, the Chiefs travel to Atlantic City to take on the third place Boardwalk Bullies (41-17-6, 88 PTS; 3rd Northern div.). The Chiefs are 4-3-1 against Atlantic City this season. The Boardwalk Bullies are winless in their last four games going 0-3-1 and are 4-4-1 in their last ten games. The Chiefs are 2-2-0 at Boardwalk Hall this season and have been outscored 13-6 in Atlantic City.

Friday the Chiefs will take on the Wheeling Nailers (48-14-4, 100 PTS; 1st Northern div.) for the last time in the regular season. The Chiefs are 5-3-0 against Wheeling this season and 61-60-15 all-time. Wheeling is 7-1-2 in their last ten games.

The Chiefs host the fifth place Trenton Titans (35-24-7, 77 PTS; 5th Northern div.) on Saturday night. The Chiefs are 5-2-0 against the Titans this season. Trenton is 0-3-0 at the War Memorial this season. The Titans have won four straight games and are 6-3-1 in their last ten games.

Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs will play their final regular season home game at the War Memorial when they host the Cincinnati Cyclones (25-40-3, 53 PTS; 9th Northern div.). The Chiefs are 3-1-1 against the Cyclones this season, with two of the wins coming at the War Memorial.

CHIEFS NOTES:

- The Chiefs won their franchise record 40th game with Saturday's 3-2 win at Cincinnati. The last Johnstown hockey team to reach the 40 win plateau was the 1975-76 Johnstown Jets (47).

- The Chiefs need one more road win to tie the franchise record for most road wins in a season (17, 1991-92).

- Larry Courville has two goals and 7 points in his last five games.
