Condors / Blitz join together as Celebrity Readers

Wednesday, March 24th - Condors Joe Watkins and Andrew Ianiero will be attending Rio Bravo Elementary School's Career Day from 12:00pm - 3:00pm. Watkins and Ianiero will be talking to students about the importance of an education as well as what it is like to have a career in professional sports. Rio Bravo Elementary School is located at 22725 Elementary Lane in Bakersfield.

Thursday, March 25th - Bakersfield Condors Jason Jackman and Todd Alexander will be heading to Wayne Van Horn School from 8:30am - 9:30am as Celebrity Readers. Watkins and Ianiero will be reading to a fourth grade classroom. Van Horn School is located at 5501 Kleinpell Avenue in Bakersfield. Later at 10:00am select members of the 2004 Bakersfield Blitz will be Celebrity Readers at Wayne Van Horn School. Two members of the 2004 Bakersfield Blitz will be going to two classrooms each as they read to students and talk about arena football.

Thursday, March 25th - Come on down to the Holiday Inn Select for the Condors Coach's Show from 6:00pm - 7:00pm and join Head Coach Marty Raymond and select Condors players. The Condors Coach's Show is a great chance for fans to meet their favorite players as well as win great prizes. The Holiday Inn Select is located at the corner of Truxtun Avenue and Q Street. The show can also be heard live each week on KGEO AM 1230.

Saturday, March 27th - Colonel Claw'd and Crusher will be leading warm-ups for the Friday Night Live 24-Hour Relay at Memorial Stadium on the campus of Bakersfield College beginning at 8:00am. The 24-hour relay begins at 9:00am and benefits all Friday Night Live programs. The relay teams are made up of students representing their Kern County schools. Saturday, March 27th - Come watch Blitz QB Jeff Dover as he shows off his softball skills at the Grand Slam Charity Softball Tournament's Celebrity Softball Game from 3:30pm - 6:00pm at the softball fields by Masa Marin Raceway. The tournament starts Saturday morning at 9:00am and concludes Sunday. The event will benefit the American Red Cross - Kern County Chapter.

Tip-A-Condor Sets New Record! Thanks to the efforts of the greatest fans in hockey and the community of Bakersfield Tip-A-Condor raises over $7,400. Condors fans got a chance to see D Quinn Fair sing "Elvira" by the Oak Ridge Boys, as well as the entire 2003-2004 team sing their rendition of Garth Brook's "Friends In Low Places". The stick used by Rosebush in obtaining his 100th Condors goal last weekend was up for bid, bringing in $750. Also a team-signed jersey from former Condors G Kevin St. Pierre's new team in Fort Wayne and Andrew Ianiero's 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game jersey brought in hefty bids as well. St. Pierre's and Ianiero's jerseys brought in a combined $1,625. Proceeds from the evening went to Make-A-Wish and brought the total raised through the history of Tip-A-Condor to over $20,000. Thanks again Condors fans!
