Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced Friday that forwards Bear Trapp and Dean Yakura have been added to the Idaho Steelheads roster and will be in uniform Friday night when the team hosts Alaska.
The 26-year-old Trapp was in training camp with the Steelheads in October and was among Sauter's final cuts. After playing four seasons of college hockey at Sacred Heart, Trapp spent the 2009-2010 season in the ECHL with the Elmira Jackals and Johnstown Chiefs. He netted six goals and handed out 11 assists in 32 games between the two teams.
Yakura, 25, has been playing with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the Southern Professional Hockey League. The British Columbia native had nine points (five goals, four assists) in 20 appearances with the Ice Flyers after playing four seasons at American International College.
Trapp will wear no. 27 with Yakura wearing no. 19.
The Steelheads are back at home Friday night to host long-time rival Alaska at 7 PM at Qwest Arena. It's RC Willey "Family Night," with 2-for-1 vouchers available only at RC Willey on Eagle Road.
