Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals (22-21-6-1) established a four-goal second-period lead on their way to a 5-2 win over the Trenton Devils (19-28-1-3) on Friday night at First Arena. The Jackals and the Devils battle in the rubber match of a three-game series in Trenton on Saturday night.

Patrick Coulombe, who had a goal and two assists on the night to establish a new career high of 32 points, scored on the power play for the Jackals by tipping in a feed from Brock McBride at 1:41 of the first period to give Elmira a 1-0 lead. Coulombe's point total is tops among ECHL defensemen. The Jackals have power-play goals now in nine-straight contests.

R.J. Anderson wristed a puck high past the stick side of Devils netminder Shane Connelly at 16:39 of the first to extend the Jackals' lead to 2-0.

McBride took possession of a loose puck in the left wing corner and went around the net to feed Brian Lebler at 1:37 of the second period, with Lebler driving in a shot from the slot to put Elmira up 3-0.

Justin Donati's pass toward Eric Lampe in the slot at 5:02 redirected off of Lampe's skate past Connelly's glove side to give the Jackals a 4-0 advantage, which stood entering the third period. Connelly was pulled by Devils head coach Kevin Dean after the Jackals' fourth tally for Jeff Lerg.

Jeremy Akeson one handed a puck through the pads of Elmira goaltender at 6:24 of the third period to give Trenton its first goal, 4-1.

Michael Dubuc notched a power-play tally from the right goal line at 9:57 to put Elmira up 5-1.

Dan Charleston snuck in a rebound past Cousineau's glove side at 14:38 to make it 5-2, the game's final score.

Cousineau upped his record to 13-9-4-0 with a 24-save performance as the Jackals won their first home game since Jan. 15. Connelly, making nine saves before being pulled, dropped to 7-14-2-1 on the season. Lerg set aside 13 of 14 shots, not factoring in the decision.

The Jackals and the Devils play the 11th of 16 games against one another in Trenton's Sun National Bank Center at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
