Road Warriors Out-Duel Stingrays 3-1

Greenville, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (29-21-1-2) fell to the Greenville Road Warriors (31-19-1-1) 3-1 in the second game of a four-game series against their in-state rival Friday night at the Bi-Lo Center.

Road Warriors forward Andrew Carroll broke open the scoring on the power play at 10:42 of the first period deflecting a shot from defenseman Wes Cunningham under glove of Stingrays goaltender Jared DeMichiel from the top of the goal crease. Forward Shane Harper received the second assist.

The Road Warriors grabbed a two-goal lead early in the second period when Harper tapped in a rebound over the left pad of DeMichiel at 3:59. Carroll and defenseman Trevor Glass recorded assists. Stingrays defenseman Derek Keller cut the lead in half on the power play at 8:15 snapping a shot over the right shoulder of Road Warriors keeper Nic Riopel from the top of the right-wing circle. Forwards Rob Ricci and Pierre-Luc O'Brien assisted on Keller's second tally of the season.

Forward Jimmy Kilpatrick sealed the victory for the Road Warriors at 2:05 of the final fame from Carroll and forward Mark Voakes.

DeMichiel suffered the loss stopping 11 of 14 Road Warriors shots. Riopel improved to 14-10-1-0 blocking 29 of 30 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays finished the contest 1-for-5 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 1-for-6.

The series continues tomorrow, Saturday, February 19 at 7:05 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center and returns to the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday, February 20 at 4:00 p.m. Celebrate Kid's Day with the Stingrays featuring $5 kid's tickets (walk-up only)!
