11th Annual Tip-A-Condor Coming March 21 at fishlips
February 18, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Mark your calendars! The 11th annual Tip-A-Condor Dinner has been scheduled for Monday, March 21 at fishlips, in downtown Bakersfield. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will start at 6 p.m.
The event turns Condors players into waiters and entertainers for the night, in an effort to collect tips for charity. All the proceeds will benefit the Kern County Shrine Club, which facilitates donations to other local organizations and in particular, the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
The night also includes a live and silent auction for various memorabilia from the Condors, such as jerseys, game-worn equipment and sticks, and the retired number 16 sign of Paul Willett that formerly was on display in the arena. Merchandise from teams such as the Los Angeles Kings and several American Hockey League and ECHL clubs, as well as local businesses, will also be available through the auction. The previous 10 years of Tip-A-Condor dinners have yielded nearly $120,000 for local non-profit organizations.
Tickets are $25 and include your choice of dinner from an abbreviated fishlips menu, as well as appetizers and iced tea/soda. They may be purchased at any Condors home game, at the customer service table, or at fishlips.
Condors C Adam Naglich said the event was fun last season, but he wouldn't quit his day job to pick up a tray and apron. "I'd rather be playing hockey, but we're looking forward to serving all the fans at this event!" said Naglich, who participated in his first Tip-A-Condor last season.
Fishlips is located at 1517 18th Street, and you can visit their website at http://www.fishlips.org. Seating is limited, and table locations will be first come, first served. Parking is available on the surrounding streets, as well as the paid parking garage on the corner of 18th St./Eye St.
