Wheeling Nailers News Release
JOHNSTOWN, PA - Andrew Sarauer's goal in the overtime shooout, lifted the Reading Royals to a 1-0 shootout win over the Wheeling Nailers at the Cambria County War Memorial Friday night.
The first three periods brought great scoring chances, but even better goaltending as neither team could light the lamp in regulation sending the game to overtime. The goaltender's duel continued through the overtime session as Reading's Matt Dalton made 48 saves, while Nailers netminder Patrick Killeen stopped all 37 of the shots faced in the contest.
In the overtime shootout, Reading's Andrew Sarauer slowly skated into the the slot and was able to deke the puck past Killeen on the backhand. Dalton stopped all four Nailers shooters to preserve the 1-0 shootout victory. Wheeling outshot Reading 48-37 in the game. Despite the loss, the Nailers do pick up a point in the standings, extending their lead in the North Division to seven points.
