DeMichiel Returns from Hershey

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that goaltender Jared DeMichiel has been assigned to the team by the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

DeMichiel dressed in 24 games with the Stingrays this season going 14-8-0 with a .915 save percentage and ranks eighth in the ECHL with a 2.63 goals-against average. The Avon, CT native is currently in his first professional season after playing for four years at the Rochester Institute of Technology going 41-19-2 with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 66 games. During his senior season, DeMichiel had a career-best 27-10-1 record with a 2.09 GAA and a .921 save percentage while leading the Tigers to the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four for the first time in school history. During the tournament, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound netminder earned the NCAA East Region Most Outstanding Player award. While with the Bears, DeMichiel appeared in two games going 1-0-0 with a 3.86 GAA and .867 save percentage.

The Stingrays return to the ice on Friday, February 18 and Saturday, February 19 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday, February 20 against their in-state rival at 4:00 p.m. Celebrate Kid's Day with the Stingrays featuring $5 kid's tickets (walk-up only)! Come early for a pre-game kid's carnival and stay after the contest for post-game autographs with the entire Stingrays team!

Pack the House Night is almost here! Join the Stingrays for a night of fun on Saturday, February 26 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Every seat in the house is $5 plus FREE PARKING! The United States Marine Corps will perform a Poolee Swear-In ceremony on the ice and MUSC Children's Hospital Change Bandits will be sneaking around the concourse collecting change to support the MUSC Children's Hospital Fund.
