
Stars Drop Final Game Before All-Star Break to Valley Suns

The Salt Lake City Stars dropped their final game before the All-Star break, falling 123-120 to the Valley Suns on Thursday afternoon. The loss moved the Stars to 9-13 on the season as they head into the break.
Valley opened the game with efficient offense, quickly building a lead. Salt Lake City responded by trimming the deficit to 28-27 at the end of the first quarter. Despite tying the score multiple times in the second period, the Stars were unable to take control, and the Suns carried a 59-53 advantage into halftime.
Salt Lake City mounted an 11-0 run in the third quarter to take its first lead of the game, going ahead 71-70 at the 6:40 mark. The Stars held the advantage late into the fourth quarter before the Suns reclaimed the lead in the final minute and secured the three-point victory.
Matthew Cleveland led Salt Lake City with a team-high 25 points (9-14 FGM), adding five rebounds and two assists. The performance marked Cleveland's fifth consecutive game with 20 or more points. Second-year guard Max Abmas followed with 24 points.
Six Stars scored in double figures. Along with Cleveland (25) and Abmas (24), Sean East II added 15 points and Dereon Seabron chipped in 14 from the starting lineup. Off the bench, Mo Bamba recorded a double-double with 23 points (10-13 FGM, 2-2 3PM) and 13 rebounds (4 OR, 9 DR), while Justin Harmon contributed 16 points.
Valley was led by CJ Huntley, who scored 22 points, while Damion Baugh and Ruben Nembhard Jr. each added 21.
Salt Lake City will be represented during All-Star Weekend by Sean East II and Jazz two-way Blake Hinson. East II will participate in the NBA G League Rising Stars Game on Feb. 13 and the NBA G League Next Up Game on Feb. 15. Hinson will compete in the NBA G League 3-Point Contest on Feb. 14 and will also take part in the Next Up Game.
