
Snappers drop close one, lose ground In playoff race

The Snappers took a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Terrance Patterson led off the inning with a walk, and then a single by Chris Brown moved him to third. Patterson scored on a sacrifice fly by Deacon Burns. David Winfree drove in Brown on a fielder's choice. Peoria tied the game in the fourth. Beloit regained the lead after Woodard drove in Plouffe, giving Beloit a 3-2 lead. The Chiefs exploded for five runs in the fifth inning taking a 7-3 lead, including back to back home runs by Peoria. Beloit mounted a comeback scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth, closing the gap to 7-6. Ryan Harvey homered for Peoria to give them an 8-6 advantage. The Snappers would not push another run across as they fell 8-6.
Playoff Notes: With their win tonight Kane County now leads the Snappers by a game for the final playoff spot. Beloit holds the tiebreaker advantage over Kane County and Cedar Rapids, if all three teams end up tied Beloit would make the playoffs.
Upcoming Schedule: The Snappers and Chiefs will play the final game of this series Thursday, September 1 at Pohlman Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
