August 31, 2005 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Taco Bell are giving their fans a late season treat after the Kernels managed to blast the Swing of the Quad Cities, 15-9, at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night.
By scoring 10 runs or more at home in their second to last regular season home game the Kernels triggered the Taco Bell Ten Spot. One of the team's most popular promotions, area residents can order up to 10 beef tacos for just 39 cents all day Thursday at participating area locations. The Kernels host the Swing on Thursday night for the team's final regular season home game before embarking on a crucial four-game road trip to Kane County to end the year. Cedar Rapids trails the Cougars by just one game for the final playoff spot in the Western Division heading into Thursday.
