Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

COMING UP: The Cincinnati Cyclones play three games against North Division opposition this week, as Johnstown comes to town for a pair of games this weekend (Friday and Sunday) and the club makes its first sojourn to Wheeling on Saturday.

PINK IN THE RINK FRIDAY!: The Cyclones will host their first-ever 'Pink In The Rink' night on Friday (Dec. 14). The game, which will be associated with the Patty Brisben Foundation, will raise funds and awareness for women's health issues. Pink ice and pink Cyclones jerseys (available for auction after the game) are among the highlights of the evening. All off-ice officials that evening will be female--a first in ECHL history. Last Wednesday (Dec. 5), USA Today featured the Cyclones in the hockey notebook for this item.

KIDS CLUB EVENT SUNDAY!: The Cyclones will host a special event for its Kids Club members on Sunday (Dec. 16), following the game with Johnstown. Kids Club members will have a special pizza party with the team and be able to skate on the ice with the club's mascot, Twister. Kids Club memberships and tickets for this game are still available by calling the Cyclones at 513-421-PUCK.

IT'S RAINING.....BEARS?: The Cyclones game on Saturday was the team's annual 'Teddy Bear Toss', where fans threw new and gently-loved stuffed animals onto the U.S. Bank Arena ice surface after the club's first goal in the 2-1 shootout win. Approximately 500 stuffed animals will be turned over to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the Greater Cincinnati firefighters and police for use in rescue runs. A final total on the numbers will be released later this week.

ABOUT SATURDAY: The Cyclones dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to Elmira on Saturday. Trailing 2-0 at the first intermission, Cincinnati rallied for a season-high four goals in the second frame. Elmira rallied and then won the game in the shootout. Rookie defenseman Tyler Howells had a pair of goals to lead the offense, while defenseman Gerard Miller chipped in with a goal and two assists.

ABOUT FRIDAY: The Cyclones moved into the top spot in the North Division with a 2-1 shootout win over Elmira on Friday. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 38 shots during the game and all four shootout attempts to pick up the win. Andrew Martin scored a second period goal to get things started and it was fifth period goals from Jean-Michel Daoust and David Desharnais that provided the difference in the decision.

ABOUT WEDNESDAY: The Cyclones knocked off Dayton, 4-2, Wednesday night. Barret Ehgoetz paced the offense with a goal and two assists, while rookie defenseman Tyler Howells had a goal and two assists. Cincinnati shutoff the Bombers third-ranked power play unit, stopping all nine chances for Dayton with the extra attacker in the game.

ROLLING, ROLLING, ROLLING...: The Cyclones are 11-2-2 in the last 15 games. The only losses the club has suffered in regulation time since Nov. 4 were Thansgiving weekend (Nov. 23-24) to Dayton. The last time a Cincinnati team lost a game in regulation time to anyone other than Dayton was Halloween night (Oct. 31) at Elmira.

LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!: The Cyclones have a four game winning streak away from U.S. Bank Arena. The last time the squad dropped a decision on in an away game was Nov. 4 in a 3-2 defeat at Dayton. Since then, the club has gone to the Nutter Center twice and won and claimed conquests at Johnstown and Elmira. Last season, the club picked up five straight on the road from Dec. 28 through Jan. 18. The team record for road wins in six, set by the 2002-03 Cyclones squad.

MOVIN' ON UP: The Cincinnati Cyclones have had five players recalled to the American Hockey League (AHL) in the last eight days. Despite the revolving door that has seen the Cyclones use three different lineups for the ensuing three games--Cincinnati has still not lost a game in regulation time since Nov. 24). Cedrick Desjardins was recalled by Hamilton last Sunday (Dec. 2). Brian Schmidt and James Sixsmith were taken by MIlwaukee on Monday (Dec. 3). David Desharnais was recalled by Hamilton before Saturday's (Dec. 8) game, while the Bulldogs got Jon Gleed after the game. Eight players have played for the Cyclones and spent time in the AHL this season (Travis Fuller, Mark Matheson and Gerard Miller are the others).

URQUHART RETURNS: The Cincinnati Cyclones received center Cory Urquhart, on assignment from the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) on Friday (Dec. 7). Urquhart appeared in 43 games for the Cyclones a year ago, netting 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points. Cory was recalled by Hamilton and helped the Bulldogs claim the Calder Cup championship.

AND THEY'RE OFF!: The Cyclones have their best record through 22 games (15-5-2) in team history. The .727 winning percentage is two and a half games better than the 2002-03 edition of the club, which was 13-8-1 at this stage. That club finished 36-29-7 on the year and lost in seven games in the National Conference finals to Atlantic City, which captured the Kelly Cup.

DOV STEPS UP: Cyclones goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris has has not lost a game in regulation time since November 4 at Dayton, posting a7-0-1 record since. Grumet-Morris is 9-2-1 on the year and is the first goaltender in club history to post more than seven wins in his first ten decisions of a season (Steve Briere was 7-2-1 through ten starts in 2001-02). In the eight decisions since his last defeat, Dov has a 2.10 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

EGO HEATING UP: Cyclones center Barret Ehgoetz has been touted as one of the top defensive forwards in the ECHL, but his offensive game has been a bright spot in recent days. Ehgoetz has six goals and ten assists for 16 points and a +10 rating in the 13 games since Nov. 10. Barret's three-point game Wednesday night, tied his single-game career-high for scoring.

OPEN HOUSE: The Cyclones are hosting an open house on Tuesday, Dec. 18 from 5:30-8pm. Fans can tour the arena, check out the locker room and take a spin on the ice (bring your skates!). It will also be one of the last chances for fans to get the Holiday Six-Pack (six tickets and a special T-shirt for $66).

ON DECK: Following this week's games, the Cyclones host a 'Wet Wednesday' game next week, as Wheeling comes to U.S. Bank Arena for a 7:30pm tilt on Dec. 19. That will be the final home game of the 2007 calendar year. The team will next be at home for 'NASCAR Weekend' on Jan. 5-6. More than 50 autographed NASCAR items will be given away to lucky fans throughout the weekend.

CYCLONES COACHES SHOW: The Cyclones Coaches Show airs every Monday on SuperTalk FM 96.5.
