
Thunder Goes Pink II Raises $36,000 for Charity

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder announced today the final total raised for its Thunder Goes Pink II weekend was $36,000. St. Josephs Foundation - Breast Cancer Services and the American Cancer Society - Stockton Field Office each received $18,000.
This year nearly 18,000 fans attended Thunder Goes Pink II presented by St. Josephs Medical Center in association with County Bank and metroPCS. The second night, Saturday, November 3, saw the Thunder draw its first sellout crowd of the 2007-2008 season.
For the second consecutive year, fans received special pink giveaways including hats, glow sticks and cheer cards, and watched players skate on pink ice for the two games. The lights on the concourse in Stockton Arena were once changed to pink for the event.
The total raised for the weekends beneficiaries included money raised during live and silent auctions, ticket and t-shirt sales proceeds, fan donations and various online auctions.
Final fundraising efforts for the event concluded this past week with an online auction of Thunder team captain Brad Farynuks game-worn pink jersey. During the Friday, December 7, against the Las Vegas Wranglers, the Thunder presented each of the two beneficiaries with $18,000 checks on behalf of the Stockton Thunder and Lightning Foundation.

For the second straight year, our fans have shown tremendous support for the team and our efforts to raise awareness for this very important cause, Thunder president Dan Chapman said. We feel very fortunate to be in a position to have such a positive impact on our community. We plan to continue our efforts to raise funds and awareness for worthy causes for years to come.
