Chiefs Giving Back During Holidays

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs have only four home games in December but the staff and players are giving back to the community during this holiday season.

"This is an enjoyable time of the year for all of us. It is nice to be able to give back to people who may not be able to celebrate the holiday's," said Chiefs Vice President Kevin McGeehan

On December 1st, the Chiefs held their eighth annual Toys for Tots Toy Toss where over 3,000 stuffed animals were collected for local children when the Chiefs scored their first goal of the evening against Wheeling.

December 10 and 11, the Chiefs players will be at the Galleria Mall from 1p-6p ringing bells for the Salvation Army by the Food Court. This is the seventh year in a row Chiefs players have volunteered their time.

"We have a lot of fun doing these things during the holidays. It is great to help people in need, it puts everything in perspective us and we are glad we can help," said Chiefs assistant captain Jason Spence.

The Chiefs staff and players also acted as Secret Santa's for local disadvantaged children through a program with Cambria County Children and Youth Services. Each player and staff member purchased a present for a child.

The Chiefs will be holding a non perishable food drive benefiting "Food for Families," at their December 21 and 22 home games.
