Clinton LumberKings News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - A six-run second inning by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers was the difference in a 7-1 loss for the Clinton LumberKings on Tuesday night at Neuroscience Group Field. Jerar Encarnacion went 3-for-4 with a double for Clinton (26-24) but was a rare bright spot for the LumberKings at the plate.

Alberto Guerrero started for Clinton and worked five innings and was hung with the loss. Nine Timber Rattlers' (23-27) came up in the second inning to bring home six runs. Chad McClanahan opened the inning by reaching on a hit-by-pitch and was part of a string of five straight batters to reach in the inning.

Je'Von Ward brought home the first run with an RBI single to right and was followed by LG Castillo who forced a two-run throwing error by Sean Reynolds. Brice Turang then tripled home a run and scored on a Manny Pina RBI ground out.

The six-run second was more than enough support for Wisconsin pitching that did not allow Clinton to register two hits or more in the same inning all night.

Guerrero (2-1) was given the loss his time out but rebounded following the second to turn in five innings. He allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits while walking one and striking out five,

Victor Castaneda earned the win for Wisconsin for 1.1 innings of relief work after Reese Olson failed to qualify for the win. Castaneda (1-0) allowed no runs during his time out, surrendered just one hit, and walked none while striking out two.

Clinton's only run of the night was scratched across in the top of the eighth. Davis Bradshaw led-off reaching on a hit-by-pitch and moved to third following a Jerar Encarnacion double. Sean Reynolds then scored Bradshaw with a sacrifice fly to center.

The LumberKings will meet the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Wednesday night for game two of their three-game series. Clinton will throw righty George Soriano (0-4, 5.30) while Wisconsin will tap righty Justin Jarvis (0-0, 5.19). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Fans looking to listen to the game can hear Erik Oas with the pregame show on 6:20 p.m. with the pregame show on 100.3 FM WCCI or online at lumberkings.com via the tunein radio app.
