WORCESTER, Mass. (Jan. 28, 2011) - Dan DaSilva's goal with 11:42 left in regulation was the game-winner as Justin Braun scored twice and the Worcester Sharks defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 at DCU Center in Worcester, despite 45 saves from Sound Tigers goaltender Kevin Poulin.

Worcester jumped in front with a goal just 2:22 into the game. Braun fired a shot from the point that appeared to deflect off a Sound Tiger defenseman and beat Kevin Poulin to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Braun's first goal came on a delayed penalty call, and the Sharks defenseman would net his second goal of the period soon after on a power play. After Micheal Haley's delay of game penalty gave Worcester a five-on-three, Braun fired a shot from the point through traffic to put the Sharks on top 2-0. Poulin stopped 22 shots in a first period where the Sound Tigers were outshot 24-6, and they trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes.

The Sound Tigers would bounce back with strong play to start the second period. After a strong forecheck in the Worcester zone, Tony Romano gathered the puck behind the Worcester net and found Justin DiBenedetto in the slot. DiBenedetto fired a shot past Alex Stalock for his ninth goal of the season and fifth in four games as the Sound Tigers trailed 2-1 with 15:28 left in the second period. The Sound Tigers would continue to pressure and tied the game just as their first power play opportunity expired. Rob Hisey tapped a pass from Jesse Joensuu to defenseman Dylan Reese. Reese's wrister beat Stalock to tie the game at two midway through the middle frame. After the lopsided first-period shot total, the Sound Tigers outshot Worcester 10-6 in the second period and the two sides were tied headed to the third period.

The Sharks retook the lead with 11:42 remaining in regulation. Nick Schaus' shot from the point was redirected in front by Dan DaSilva, who sent the trickling puck past Poulin to give Worcester the 3-2 lead. It turned out to be the winning goal, as late penalties to Olivier Labelle, Anton Klementyev and Ty Wishart left the Sound Tigers shorthanded for most of the final five minutes of the game and the Sharks came away with the win.

This was the final game of the series between the Sound Tigers and Sharks and the only regulation win for Worcester as the series ends 5-1-1-1 in favor of the Sound Tigers.

The Sound Tigers head to Manchester before the All-Star Break to face the Monarchs tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
