Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--The Admirals exploded for a season high eight goals, including four in the second that blew the game open, en route to a 8-1 win over Peoria on Friday night in front of 10,793 at the Bradley Center. This was most goals that the Admirals had scored in a game this season and the most since another 8-1 win over Chicago on April 9, 2010.
Blake Geoffrion led the Ads offensive barrage with a five-point night (3g-2a), which is the most of his career and the most by an Admiral since Dave Scatchard had four goals and an assist in that same win over the Wolves last season.
Linus Klasen and Ryan Thang each added a goal and two assists on the night, giving the line of Geoffrion, Klasen and Thang an impressive ten points (4g-6a). Andreas Thuresson (1g-1a) and Roman Josi (2a) each tallied two point nights, while Jon Blum scored his sixth goal of the year and was +4.
The Admirals controlled play during the first period, outshooting Peoria 16-3, but led just 1-0 after 20 minutes of play on Geoffrion's goal just 42 seconds into the game. After Klasen knocked a shot off the cross-bar Geoffrion gathered the puck on the right dot and skated into the high slot before firing a wrister that beat Peoria netminder Ben Bishop high, glove side.
The second period was when the Admirals began to convert their offensive opportunities, scoring four times in less than 13 minutes. Mark Van Guilder, Thuresson, Chris Muller, and Klasen each lit the lamp in the period, with Mueller's tally coming short handed, to put Milwaukee up 5-0 heading into the third.
The Rivermen showed some life early in the third and got on the board on a wrister by Mark Cundari just 1:11 into the frame. However, Thang halted any momentum that Peoria might have gained when he potted his sixth of the year off of a long rebound on a Josi shot 49 seconds later. Geoffrion got his second of the night at 12:55 and Blum capped off the scoring with a power-play marker at 16:15
Overshadowed by all of the offense was Admirals goalie Mark Dekanich who earned his 17th win of the season with a 27 save performance, including 12 in both the second and third periods.
The Admirals play Saturday night in Rockford before having five days off for the all-star break. The Ads next home game is on Friday, February 4 when they host Rockford at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center. Fans can purchase tickets by calling Ticketmaster or logging on to milwaukeeadmirals.com.
