Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that on Monday, Feb. 21 forward Cody Bass will hold a special family skate with his B-Sens teammates from 5 to 7 p.m. at Highland Park located at 801 Hooper Rd. in Endwell.

The event was planned as a fundraiser for WINGS (When I Need Guidance and Support). Bass established WINGS in memory of Daron Richardson, the daughter of Ottawa Senators' assistant coach Luke Richardson, who died after trying to commit suicide in the family home. Its purpose is to raise money for the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier and the Royal Ottawa Foundation's Mental Health Program.

Fans are encouraged to come out and skate in memory of Daron on one of two outdoor skating rinks under the lights at the park. Skating is free and open to the public. Those who wish to participate must bring their own skates.

Hackerthreads.com will be on hand to sell WINGS t-shirts which were designed with the assistance of Bass and there will be refreshments available at the park concession stand. Proceeds from the sale of t-shirts and refreshments will benefit WINGS.

"This outdoor skate will be great for our community and will allow our great fans, of all ages, an opportunity to interact with the Binghamton Senators players on a different level," said Bass.

"My hope in having an outdoor skate is that it will provide a unique atmosphere and get the community excited to get involved. Families will have a chance to learn about and donate to a great cause, all while having fun. For us players participating, it will also bring back a lot of memories of skating outdoors in our youth."
