
Sellers and Herrera Join Topes

Infielder Justin Sellers joins the Isotopes today, May 11 after being optioned to Albuquerque by the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 8. Utility-man Elian Herrera rejoins Albuquerque after being recalled by the Dodgers on May 7 and optioned on May 10. Infielder Leo Rodriguez was sent to Extended Spring Training. RHP Sean White has been placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 9 with a right lateral strain.
Justin Sellers joins Albuquerque for the first time in 2013 after spending parts of 2010, 2011 and 2012 with the club. He hit .304 (82-for270) while matching his career-high 14 homers during his best season with Albuquerque in 2011.
With the Dodgers this season, the California native batted .191 with one home run, one double and two RBI in 26 games. He holds a .204 (34-for-167) career batting average in the Majors over three season with Los Angeles. The 27-year-old infielder was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2005 and had his contract purchased by the Dodgers from the Chicago Cubs in 2009.
Elian Herrera rejoins the Isotopes after making his second career Major League stint with the Dodgers. He made his Major League debut on May 15, 2012. The switch hitter made just one appearance after being recalled on Tuesday, starting Wednesday's game against the D-backs in left field and going 1-for-3 at the plate.
The Dominican native is hitting .225 (29-for-116) with 16 RBI, two home runs and five stolen bases in 27 games this season for the Topes. The 28-year-old split time between the infield and outfield this season in Triple-A.
Rodriguez was sent to Extended Spring Training. The 21-year-old infielder collected a hit in his only at bat of 2013 with Albuquerque after entering the game on a double switch. He made his Triple-A debut against Tucson on May 7, singling in the ninth. Rodriguez signed with the Dodgers on June 1, 2009 as a non-drafted free agent.
White holds a 1-4 record with a 4.80 ERA (16ER/30.0IP) in six starts with the Topes this season. He has allowed three home run and struck out 21 as a starter.
The Isotopes begin a four-games series with the New York Mets new affiliate Las Vegas 51s tonight at 8:05 from Cashman Field in Las Vegas. Former Mets hurler LHP Aaron Laffey (1-0) gets the start for Albuquerque against southpaw Zack Wheeler (2-1). The Topes return home to face the Reno Aces at 6:35 PM on May 16.
