CURVE, Pa. - The Erie SeaWolves defeated the Altoona Curve in both games of a double-header on Tuesday at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

The Curve (52-47, 17-15) dropped the first contest, 4-3, in ten innings in a game that featured a season-long, two-hour and twenty-seven-minute rain delay after the top of the fourth inning. The SeaWolves (54-44, 23-9) then picked up a 3-1 win in the night-cap.

Game 1

Win: Ethan DeCaster (2-1)

Loss: Matt Eckelman (1-4)

Save: Nolan Blackwood (1)

TOG: 2:46 (2:27)

The Curve and SeaWolves were tied, 3-3, through seven innings in game one and the score remained tied until the top of the 10th. After Jose Azocar struck out swinging to start the inning, Frank Schwindel ripped a ball off of second baseman Mitchell Tolman's glove into center field to score placed runner Derek Hill from second base and give the SeaWolves a 4-3 lead.

Nolan Blackwood (Save, 1) entered in the bottom of the tenth for Erie and retired the Curve in order with two strikeouts and a groundout to end the game. The Curve had prime opportunities to win the game in both the eighth and ninth innings but stranded the winning run at third base with less than two outs each time against Erie reliever Ethan DeCaster (Win, 2-1). DeCaster held the Curve hitless over three scoreless frames.

Matt Eckelman (Loss, 1-4) was on the mound when the SeaWolves grabbed the lead in the 10th inning. Despite being charged with the loss, Eckelman allowed just one unearned run on one hit with three strikeouts in a season-high three innings. The Curve relief trio of Eckelman, Angel German (three innings) and Yeudy Garcia (one inning) held the SeaWolves to three hits with seven strikeouts over the final seven innings.

At the plate, Jason Delay went 3-for-4 with three singles, two RBIs and one run while Tolman went 2-for-4 with two singles, an RBI and a walk for the Curve. On the other side, Kody Eaves went 3-for-4 with three singles, including a two-run single in the third inning, and scored a run for the SeaWolves.

Curve starter Cody Bolton and SeaWolves starter Matt Manning each worked just three innings. Bolton allowed three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and left the game after a 33-pitch third inning. Manning gave up just one run on three hits with one strikeout but did not continue on the mound after the lengthy rain delay.

Game 2

Win: Logan Shore (4-7)

Loss: Nick Economos (0-1)

Save: Drew Carlton (11)

TOG: 1:55

Attendance: 4,570

Logan Shore (Win, 4-7) started for the SeaWolves in game two and limited the Curve to three hits and two walks in five scoreless innings with four strikeouts. His counterpart, Nick Economos (Loss, 0-1), turned in a strong Double-A debut for the Curve. Economos gave up three runs on four hits and three walks but also struck out seven batters in 5.2 innings in a promising start.

The SeaWolves jumped on the board in the top of the third when Isaac Paredes belted a two-run homer run over the left-center field wall. Three innings later, Erie went up 3-0 after Josh Lester hit an RBI double to the gap in right-center to chase Economos from the game. Jesus Liranzo took over in relief and held the SeaWolves scoreless over 1.1 innings.

The Curve scored their only run of the game in the sixth when they got three hits off SeaWolves reliever Drew Carlton (Save, 11), who worked the final two innings in relief of Shore. Arden Pabst delivered a two-out, RBI single to right to score Oliva, who reached on a one-out, bloop double to right to make it a 3-1 game.

Alfredo Reyes and Robbie Glendinning each had two hits in the loss and were the only players with multiple hits in the game.

The Curve and SeaWolves will finish their four-game series on Wednesday at 12 p.m. Left-hander Domingo Robles (2-3, 5.15) gets the ball for the Curve opposite SeaWolves right-hander Kyle Funkhouser (1-1, 2.53).
