(Florence, KY) - The Florence Freedom are proud to announce infielder Sam Eberle has been named a 2014 Frontier League All-Star. He was one of three players added to the East Division squad by East Division manager Bart Zeller on Thursday.

In addition, Freedom manager Fran Riordan joins the East Division coaching staff and Freedom trainer Bryan Jett was named the East Division's trainer.

Eberle joins Freedom teammates Joe Staley, Cole Miles and Chuck Weaver on the East Division team.

"Sam has had a great first half and has come up with some really big hits for us," Riordan said. "He has also played great defense and shown a lot of versatility. We're really excited Bart Zeller has added him to the All-Star roster!"

At the conclusion of games on July 9, Eberle is hitting .315 with five home runs and 23 RBI this season. He also has a .436 On-Base Percentage, which is the sixth best OBP in the league.

Eberle, 24, hit five home runs and drove in 30 runs in 2013 with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the short-season single-A Northwest League. He also tallied 14 doubles. The Jacksonville State University product and Chattanooga, TN native spent two years in the San Francisco Giants' organization, both with Salem-Keizer. Eberle is also patient at the plate, drawing 35 walks in 2013 while only striking out 36 times. He plays both corner infield spots and can catch as well. The Giants selected Eberle in the 25th round of the 2012 MLB June Amateur Draft.

The Freedom will be live-tweeting the All-Star Game in Sauget, IL on Wednesday, July 16 and fans can follow along at https://twitter.com/FlorenceFreedom. First pitch is at 8:05 p.m. eastern time.
