Rebellion Lose Pitchers' Duel in Rosemont 2-1

Rosemont, IL-As the Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by The Coury Financial Group, traveled to Rosemont Stadium for the first time this season, a two-run home run by Chicago Bandits catcher Kristen Butler in the first inning held on as the game-winning knock as the home team defeated the visiting Rebellion 2-1 Wednesday.

Rebellion pitcher Sarah Pauly was tagged with the loss for Pennsylvania, holding the second place Bandits to just two runs on four hits in the contest. In six innings, Pauly threw 15 first pitch strikes to 23 batters faced and even sat down 11 straight batters in a row. Monica Abbott earned her fourth win of the year for Chicago, allowing one run on two hits. The Bandits ace also struck out nine Rebellion batters in her fourth complete game of the season.

In the bottom of the first, Bandits catcher Kristen Butler lifted a two-run two-out homer over the left field wall, to put Chicago in front 2-0. A pitchers' duel ensued as NPF veterans Abbott and Pauly exchanged strikes in a one hour and 37 minute contest. The Rebellion scored their only run in the contest in the top of the third frame as infielder Bianca Mejia hit an RBI groundout to score Brittney Lindley, 2-1.
