WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Lake Erie Crushers designated hitter Andrew Davis drove in three runs on three hits on Thursday evening at Consol Energy Park, as the Crushers scored a huge road series victory over the Wild Things, taking the series finale, 5-2.

The Crushers (26-22) won the season series, taking five of nine games with the victory over the Wild Things (29-19) who lost a series at home against an Eastern Division opponent for the first time this season with the loss.

Washington used the long ball to take a 2-0 lead early on. Both Maxx Garrett and Jim Vahalik hit solo homeruns in the bottom of the second inning to give the Wild Things an early edge, while former Crusher Alex Kaminsky (1-4) limited Lake Erie early on.

Kaminsky retired the first 11 batters he faced, and had allowed just a base hit to Andrew Davis through five innings of work before the Crushers caught fire and scored three times to take the lead in the top of the sixth.

The sixth inning began with Juan Sanchez's single through the left side. Sanchez scored the first run of the inning two batters later on Craig Hertler's triple to the gap in right-center. On the next pitch, Emmanuel Quiles drove in the game's tying run on a sacrifice fly, and Davis struck again one pitch later to give the Crushers the lead, with a solo homer, his second of the year.

Lake Erie's one run lead remained intact, before Davis struck again with another huge two-out extra base hit in the top of the eighth. Sanchez started the eighth with a double, and Kevin Franchetti was hit by a pitch. The next two batters were retired, before Davis provided the Crushers with some insurance, on a two-run double down the left field line.

The Wild Things would never recover, as they were limited to just two hits over the final five innings of the contest.

Trevor Longfellow (4-2) came away with the victory, after tossing two scoreless innings of one hit relief and struck out two along the way. Kaminsky took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits over six innings, and Jason Wilson (5) earned his second save in as many nights with a perfect ninth inning.

Davis paced the Crushers with a 3-for-4 performance, driving in three of Lake Erie's five runs and came a triple away from the cycle. Sanchez hit safely twice on the night, going 2-for-4, while both he and Davis went 6-for-11 in the series. Quiles drove in a run in every game during the series, and has knocked in at least one run eight straight games.

The Crushers will begin a three-game series with the Evansville Otters at Historic Bosse Field on Friday night. Righty Zac Treece (2-1, 1.76) will throw for the Crushers and the Otters will counter with right-hander Trevor Walch (1-0, 3.00). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:35 PM.
