Royals Swap Forward for Defenseman

READING , PA – The Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, have announced that they have traded the rights to forward Geoff Peters to the Dayton Bombers for the rights to defenseman Doug Nolan.

Nolan, a 27-year-old defenseman from Quincy , Massachusetts , is in his fifth professional season. He was invited to the Manchester Monarchs training camp in September. The 1994 Toronto Maple Leafs draft choice has been with the Royals AHL affiliate since the start of the season. He has appeared in eleven games with Manchester tallying 14 penalty minutes. Nolan did suit up last season for ten battles with the Monarchs as well. He posted one goal and two points along with six minutes in penalties. Prior to that, the stay-at-home defenseman has appeared in over 200 games with the Dayton Bombers over a span of four seasons. In the 2000 and 2001 seasons, he posted over 130 penalty minutes. Nolan is also a former captain for the Dayton Bombers. He attended the University of Massachusetts-Lowell where he totaled 62 points and 187 penalty minutes in 128 career games.

Peters, a 25-year-old forward from Hamilton , Ontario , was entering his second season with Reading in 2003-04. Last year, he posted 15 goals and 28 points in 40 games with the Royals. He attended the Royals training camp in early October and then was loaned to Rochester (AHL) prior to the Royals first game on October 17. So far this season, he has played in five games with the Americans and posted no points.

Reading returns to the Jungle tonight to battle the Toledo Storm at 7:05 p.m. The first 3,000 fans through the turnstile receive a free Royals schedule poster courtesy of Yuengling Lager and All Star Distributing. Sunday, November 16 Reading takes on the Greensboro Generals at home for the only time this season at 5:05 p.m. The first 2,500 fans through the gate receive a Royals megaphone provided by the Cinema Center of Reading.
