Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - In a gritty first meeting this season between the Idaho Steelheads and the Alaska Aces, Idaho lost 4-1 Friday night at the Bank of America Centre. The loss came despite an all-time record at home against the Aces of 28-5-2, coming into tonight's game. Idaho's goaltender Dan Ellis amends his record to 3-5; while Alaska's goalie Dan Murphy improves to 5-5.

Alaska got on the board first when their leading scorer Charles Linglet smacked in his sixth of year at 18:02 of the first period.

Although Idaho managed to kill off a five-minute major in the middle frame that coincided with a minor to give Alaska a five-on-three, the Steelheads couldn't fend off the Aces for long. Alaska scored again at 18:33 of the second, on a nice pass from Kimbi Daniels to Dave Csumrik who caught Ellis out of position.

In his first game with Idaho, Lance Galbraith scored Idaho's lone goal at 6:22 of the third period closing the gap to one. The goal was a power play goal, with Dave Cornacchi and Jan Kopecky each picking up an assist on the tally. Former Steelheads Wes Dorey scored a shorthanded goal on a two-on-one at 12:44. Then, with four seconds to go, the Aces got the empty-netter to end the game.
