Alaska Aces News Release

BOISE, Idaho – Charles Linglet had a goal and two assists and Dan Murphy stopped 20 of 21 shots as the Alaska Aces won in Boise for the first time in nearly three years by a 4-1 count in front of 4,311 Friday at the Bank of America Centre.

A rapidly moving first period ended with Alaska leading 1-0, courtesy of Linglet's tip-in of a Jonathan Gauthier drive from the point 1:58 before the break. For Linglet, the goal marked his sixth of the year and extended his point streak to seven games. Thanks in large part due to a five-minute boarding major taken by Idaho's Derek Paget, the Aces controlled much of the second period and went up by two goals when Dave Csumrik finished off a gorgeous two-on-one from Kimbi Daniels.

The Steelheads cut the gap to 2-1 when Lance Galbraith scored a power play goal after a scrum in front of Murphy with 13:38 left in regulation. But with Idaho on a four-minute man advantage following a double-minor high sticking call against Nolan Graham, the Aces regained their two-goal margin when Wes Dorey's mid-air pass on a two-on-one was whacked into the back of the net by Mike Scott, who made contact with the puck midway up the shaft of his stick. That shorthanded goal, Alaska's ECHL-best fifth of the season, seemed to deflate the Steelheads (7-6), and Joe Talbot's empty-netter with 4.8 seconds remaining capped the Aces' first regular season victory in Idaho since February 14, 2001.

Alaska, now 8-4 overall and in sole possession of second place in the Pacific Division, and Idaho continue a run of five consecutive games against one another tomorrow night in Boise at 5:00 p.m. AST. All Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.alaskaaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
