The Week Ahead: The Albany River Rats continue their season-long, six-game road trip against the Springfield Falcons in a 7:05pm face-off on Wednesday night (6:50pm WABY 1160AM & WVKZ 1240AM; B2 Networks @ www.albanyriverrats.com ). The Falcons (17-23-2-6, 6th Atlantic) dropped a 4-2 decision to the Manchester Monarchs on the road Friday night. C Jason Jaspers tops the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning with 43 (19-24) points during the 2005-06 campaign, while former River Rat D Ray Schultz has one goal and one assist with a plus four rating since joining the club. The River Rats have a 28-24-9-3 record in the all-time regular season series against the Falcons, including a 12-14-3-3 road record. Albany shows a 2-2-0-0 mark against Springfield this season, holding a 16-12 scoring advantage. The River Rats return to the Dunkin Donuts Center on Friday night to take on the Providence Bruins at 7:05pm (6:50pm WVKZ 1240AM; B2 Networks @ www.albanyriverrats.com ). The Bruins (26-19-1-2, 4th Atlantic) posted a 4-3 home win over the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday and will visit Tsongas Arena on Wednesday. Rookie C Tyler Redenbach ranks second with 22 assists and third with 36 points in 48 games for the AHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins. The River Rats hold a 25-17-6-4 record in all-time regular season series against the Baby Bruins, including a 12-10-3-1 road mark. Albany shows a 2-1-0-1 record against Providence this season, with each team scoring 11 games through the four previous games. Albany then visits the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the first time this season at 7:05pm on Saturday night (6:50pm WVKZ 1240AM; B2 Networks @ www.albanyriverrats.com ). The Penguins (35-7-3-2, 1st East) are coming off a 4-2 home loss to the Rochester Americans on Saturday and visit Philadelphia on Wednesday, before hosting Hershey on Friday night. C Maxime Talbot scored twice against the Amerks and has seven goals in nine games for the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The River Rats have a 12-17-5-0 record in the all-time regular season series against the Penguins, which includes a 4-11-2 road record. Albany and Wilkes-Barre split the 2004-05 season series three wins apiece, while the clubs will meet another three times this year.

Story Idea Gregg Naumenko - The netminder has been an able replacement for Frank Doyle when he has been between the pipes. He has skated on a total of four teams in two leagues this year and provides a veteran presence to a young team.

Rat Bites: * RW Aleksander Suglobov recorded a goal and an assist in two games last week to extend his current point-scoring (5-3-8) streak to a team/season-high six straight games. He tops the club with 20 goals and 38 points during the 2005-06 season. * RW Alexander Mogilny returned to the lineup with three assists in two games last weekend and has five (1-4) points in six games with the River Rats this year. * G Gregg Naumenko stopped 41 shots on goal in Saturday's 5-3 road win to earn his first victory in an Albany uniform. He now has seven AHL wins split between three teams this season (Albany, Chicago & Portland). * C Nicklas Bergfors has points (4-2-6) in four straight games, while five of his eight goals have come on the power play. * The River Rats earned their first back-to-back road wins of the season over the weekend, including the club's first shootout victory in Providence on Friday.

River Rats Rewind: Week 18 - January 30, 2006 (2-0-0-0, 4pts) February 3 - ALB 4 @ PRO 3 F/SO - RW Aleksander Suglobov scored a power play goal with 47.7 remaining and RW David Clarkson scored the only goal in the fifth shootout round. C's Nicklas Bergfors & Petr Vrana netted the other goals, while D Dan McGillis & RW Alexander Mogilny each chipped in two assists. G Frank Doyle stopped 36 shots on goal for the win. February 4 - ALB 5 @ LOW 3 - LW Ahren Nittel scored his second goal of the game 54 seconds into the third period as the River Rats earned their first back-to-back road wins. C Nicklas Bergfors and LW Tuomas Pihlman each chipped in a goal and an assist, while RW Aleksander Suglobov added an assist to run his point-scoring streak to six games. G Gregg Naumenko stopped 41 of 44 shots on goal for his first win in an Albany uniform.
