February 6, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators have recalled centre Steve Martins from the Binghamton Senators, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, on an emergency basis for tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Scotiabank Place. It is Martins' second recall of the season.

In 44 games this season with the B-Sens, Martins leads the team with 31 assists and ranks second in points with 46 and goals with 15.

The Gatineau, Que., native was recalled for the first time this season on Jan. 3 to replace Jason Spezza (pulled chest muscle). He appeared in three games with Ottawa and scored the Senators' lone goal in the team's 4-1 loss at Montreal on Jan. 7. He also skated in Ottawa's 2-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Jan. 5 and the team's 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals on Jan. 4. The 33-year-old was returned to Binghamton on Jan. 10.

The Binghamton Senators are sixth in the East Division with 18 wins, 25 losses, and two overtime and shootout losses for 40 points. The B-Sens' next game is Wednesday, Feb. 8, at home against the Portland Pirates.
