February 6, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins took three out of a possible six points this weekend to improve to 26-19-1-2, 55 points, on the season and remain in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, six points behind the third place Hartford Wolf Pack with a game in hand. Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center the P-Bruins earned a point in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Albany River Rats. In the game, the P-Bruins scored two shorthanded goals and had a total of three this weekend, which gives them a total of eleven on the season, which ranks second best in the AHL. Saturday the P-Bruins fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-1. In the second period the P-Bruins had close to eight straight minutes a man down and killed off all four penalties. The P-Bruins penalty kill unit ranks sixth in the league killing 84.3% of the time. On Sunday, Providence scored three times in the first period, but the game was decided on a power play goal late in the third period by Mark Stuart to give the P-Bruins a 4-3 victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters. The P-Bruins as a team have kept their opponents off the board allowing on average 2.69 goals per game, which ranks third in the league and only 28.04 shots per game, which ranks second in the league.
