Sacramento River Cats News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - For a third straight contest, the Sacramento River Cats lacked offense at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. On the heels of being swept in a doubleheader on Thursday, the River Cats mustered just four hits in a 5-1 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers, keeping Sacramento winless in the series.

The River Cats' lone run came in the top of the first as Heliot Ramos walked with one out and scored on a two-out single by Matt Beaty to give Sacramento a 1-0 lead. The Dodgers immediately countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first as they loaded the bases with nobody out. Steven Duggar tied the game with an RBI single and, two batters later, Jahmai Jones drew a bases-loaded walk that gave Oklahoma City a 2-1 advantage. After issuing the walk, River Cats starter Drew Strotman (1-3) went on to retire the final eight batters he faced, including four strikeouts in a row. Strotman would suffer the loss, going three innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out five.

Dodgers starter Bobby Miller also set down eight straight to take him one out deep into the third where he walked Clint Coulter and was then lifted from the game. Miller would go 3 1/3 innings and allow one run on one hit while striking out two in his season debut.

Melvin Adon took over for Sacramento in the fourth and after working a scoreless frame, allowed his lone run in the fifth. With two outs, Yonny Hernandez doubled on a ball lost in the twilight and Ben DeLuzio singled him home to make it a 3-1 Dodgers lead.

Tanner Andrews took over in the seventh for the River Cats and allowed a pair of runs in the eighth, both scoring on a two-out double to right by DeLuzio to make it 5-1.

Dylan Covey (1-0) came on to start the fifth inning for the Dodgers and escaped a bases-loaded jam with nobody out in his first frame. Covey went on to work four scoreless innings and earn the win, allowing two hits while striking out three.

Tyler Cyr closed the game out for the Dodgers with a scoreless ninth and stranded two men in scoring position.

The River Cats and Dodgers play a doubleheader to close out their series on Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, with first pitch set for 12:05 p.m. PDT.
