LAKEWOOD, NJ - Yacksel Rios allowed one hit over a career-long eight innings as the BlueClaws topped Hagerstown 2-1 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Hagerstown's lone hit came with two out in the top of the 8th inning on an infield single to third base by Narciso Mesa, snapping a stretch of 20 straight hitters retired by Rios.

Matt Hockenberry got the last three outs for his first professional save. The right-hander was drafted in the 9th round by the Phillies this year from Temple.

Dylan Cozens broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run, his 10th of the year, in the bottom of the 6th and Lakewood held on for what was their third straight victory.

Rios, a 21 year old from Puerto Rico, was the story. He had never before pitched more than 5.2 innings in a game and became the second BlueClaw to finish eight innings this year (Mark Leiter Jr. did it on 4/26 vs Savannah).

Hagerstown scored a run in the top of the first inning on a double-steal, with Rafael Bautista coming home as Isaac Ballou stole second. Bautista reached when Rios hit him with the first pitch of the game and Bautista followed with a walk.

Lakewood tied the game in the 4th inning on an RBI single by Andrew Pullin, who extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Willians Astudillo, Cozens, and Enmanuel Serra all had two hits for the BlueClaws.

The series with Hagerstown continues on Wednesday night. RHP Ranfi Casimiro (2-6, 4.97) throws for Lakewood opposite RHP Lucas Giolito (3-2, 2.30).
