(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Greensboro starter Domingo German and relievers Miguel Del Pozo and Tyler Kinney combined for a three-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Lexington Legends Wednesday night.
The Grasshoppers scored two runs in the top of the first inning. With one out, Rehiner Cordova and Carlos Lopez walked. Austin Dean singled to load the bases. Cordova scored on a sacrifice fly by Avery Romero, and Lopez came home on a single by Felix Munoz.
Greensboro added its final run in the fifth inning. Dean singled with two outs and came around to score on a long single to right center field by Romero.
German (8-3) pitched the first six innings and got the win. He allowed two hits, a single by Humberto Arteaga in the second inning and a single by Frank Schwindel in the sixth. German walked three batters and struck out seven.
Miguel Del Pozo worked the seventh and eighth, and struck out five batters. He allowed the Legends only other hit, an eighth-inning single by Mauricio Ramos.
Tyler Kinley worked the ninth and picked up his fourth save.
Legends starter Pedro Fernandez (0-5), who pitched three and two-thirds innings, was the losing pitcher.
Greensboro has won the first two games in the series, which concludes Thursday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
