Augusta Tops Braves 3-1

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves (2-11) fell to the Augusta GreenJackets (9-4) on Tuesday night by a score of 3-1 in game one of a three game series. It was Rome's sixth straight defeat.

Augusta jumped on the board in the second inning on an RBI ground out by Gabe Cornier and on fielding error that plated Rafael Rodriguez for the 2-0 score. The GreenJackets added a run in the sixth on a solo homerun by Rodriguez (3) to take the 3-0 lead. Rome's only run of the game would come in the eighth when Victor Caratini reached on a double and later scored on a throwing error. Augusta held on the final 3-1 score holding the Braves to just two hits.

Christian Jones (4-4) gets the win while Matt Marksberry (0-5) is charged with the loss. Jones went 7.1 innings allowing one unearned run.
