March 30, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (46-18-3-4), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, the Alaska Aces (48-15-4-3) before their sixth sold out crowd of 9,616 this season on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Alaska opened the scoring with an early goal just 1:30 into play. About one minute after Eric Springer got called for holding the stick, the Aces made the most of their man advantage. Bobby Hughes and Time Hall kept the puck in the Reign zone and Spencer Bennett was able to catch Mike Condon off balance and beat his glove.

D.J. King lit the lamp for the Reign with his fifth goal on the season. After a strong Reign offensive push on the man-advantage, they kept the play in the Aces zone after they returned to full strength. Brock Sheahan kept the puck in at the blue line by sending it up to King who redirected it into the Aces cage.

Through the final frame both teams were kept off the scoresheet except in penalties as the Reign picked up eight infraction minutes and the Aces took four. Even with the power-play chances neither team could convert forcing an extra period.

After 3:49 of overtime, rookie Nick Ebert had the puck along the left boards and sent it back to Mario Lamoureux who quickly sent it to Matt Register who was coming in up the seam. Register brought it to the middle of the hashes and beat Gary Coleman with a quick wrister.

Condon earned his third win stopping 18 of 19 shots; Coleman took the loss with 16 saves on 18 shots.

Three Stars:

1. ONT - Mike Condon

2. ONT - D.J. King

3. ONT - Matt Register
