The Jackals are facing the Royals tonight for the 16th, and final, time this season and eighth of eight at Sovereign Center. The Jackals are 6-7-2 against Reading this season which includes a 2-4-1 mark on the road. Elmira enters tonight on a three game losing skid against the Royals that has come on the heels of a four game winning streak that lasted from January 21 to February 15. In their three game skid the Jackals have found Reading's defense to be the biggest thorn in their side. The Royals have held Elmira to four goals in the last three meetings, including Elmira's lone shutout loss this season on March 15. A win tonight by the Jackals would keep Reading from reaching 100 points for the first time in club history.

Elmira's win last night assured the Jackals would finish no lower than fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. Florida's home win over Orlando also kept the Jackals in fifth. Tonight, if Florida wins and Gwinnett loses in regulation or overtime, the Jackals would face Gwinnett in the first round. If Florida loses in regulation and the Jackals earn a win they would move into fourth, push Florida to fifth, and hold home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs. The Jackals have never faced Gwinnett in the playoffs, but lost twice to Florida.
