Royals to Face Greenville in Eastern Conference

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team will face the Greenville Road Warriors in the ECHL's Eastern Conference Quarterfinals best-of-seven playoff series starting Friday, April 5, 2012 (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The first round series will pit the first seeded Royals against the eighth seeded Road Warriors. Games One and Two of the best-of-seven series will be played at the Sovereign Center. Games Three (Wednesday, April 10 @ 7:00 pm), Four (Thursday, April 11 @ 7:00 pm) and Five, if necessary, (Sunday, April 14 @ 4:00 pm) will be played at BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The series will return to the Sovereign Center for Games Six (if necessary) and Seven (if necessary) on Tuesday, April 16 (7:05 pm) and Wednesday, April 17 (7:05 pm). The Royals and Road Warriors played twice during the regular season. Reading won both of those games. Over the past three seasons, the Royals have gone 8-2-1 in the regular season against Greenville. This marks the first time that the Royals have faced Greenville in a playoff series. The Road Warriors are actually a continuation of the ECHL membership of the Johnstown Chiefs, who moved to Greenville in 2010. The Royals faced the Chiefs in a one-game "˜wild-card' playoff game in 2004, which Reading won, 2-1. .
