Rollins to Officiate Final ECHL Game Tonight

March 30, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Saturday that referee Jason Rollins will work his final ECHL game tonight in Estero, Fla. when the Florida Everblades host the Orlando Solar Bears.

Rollins, who began his ECHL officiating career during the 1998-99 season, has worked 515 regular-season games and 101 postseason contests in the League. Last season, he became the first referee to win the Ryan Birmingham Memorial Award as selected by his fellow officials, and also worked his 500th ECHL game on March 27, 2012 in Greenville, becoming just the fourth referee in league history to reach the milestone. He worked the 2007 All-Star Game in Boise and has also worked the 2007 and 2008 Kelly Cup Finals.

"Jason has been a valuable member to the ECHL officiating staff and we thank him for all of his hard work and dedication to the ECHL over the past 15 seasons," said ECHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Ernst. "His winning the Ryan Birmingham Award shows what his fellow officials think of him and his two Kelly Cup Finals prove what a good official he was in the ECHL. We look forward to having Jason as part of our staff next year in a supervisory role, as he will help us in developing officials."

There are 26 former ECHL officials scheduled to work as part of the NHL officiating team in 2012-13 with referees Darcy Burchell, Francis Charron, Ghislain Hebert, Jean Hebert, Marc Joannette, Trent Knorr, Mike Leggo, Dave Lewis, T.J. Luxmore, Wes McCauley, Jon McIsaac, Dean Morton, Dan O'Rourke, Brian Pochmara, Kevin Pollock, Kyle Rehman, Chris Rooney, Graham Skilliter, Justin St. Pierre and Ian Walsh, and linesmen Steve Barton, Matt MacPherson, Brian Mach, Tim Nowak, Bryan Pancich and Jay Sharrers.
