Cyclones Drop Regular Season Finale to Evansville, 4-0

March 30, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Jason Dale scored a hat trick and James Reid made 26 saves to earn his first pro shutout as the Evansville IceMen (25-40-3-4) took home a 4-0 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones (42-22-5-3) in front of 8,299 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night.

The IceMen pulled ahead just 2:43 into the opening period when Miles McCauley's shot got tangled up beneath Michael Houser (L, 18 saves, 17-10-1-1) and spun into the net. Evansville's power play unit then capitalized, as Jason Dale sniped home his 14th goal of the season at 10:10 - extending the cushion to 2-0. The visiting team led it by the same score at the first intermission.

The lone goal of the middle stanza came at 15:32 during an odd man rush for the IceMen; Chris Forfar fed Dale in the left circle and lifted home his second of the night to make it 3-0. And despite some great chances on James Reid for the home team (W, 18 saves, 4-8-1-1), the Cyclones trailed it 3-0 after 40 minutes.

As the third period went along, the Cyclones were still unable to solve Reid and remained down by three. With about five minutes remaining, Cincinnati pulled Houser from the net in hopes of clawing back with the extra skater. Unfortunately, that was not to be as Dale sealed the game with his third goal of the night on the empty net at 16:42, making it 4-0. The IceMen went on to win by the same score.
