Steelheads, Eagles to Meet in Kelly Cup Playoffs

Boise, ID (3/30/13) - The Idaho Steelheads announced late Friday night that the team will face the Colorado Eagles in the first round of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, presented by KeyBank.

The best-of-seven set opens on Wednesday at Boise's CenturyLink Arena. Game 2 will also be in Boise on Thursday before the scene shifts to Colorado for games 3, 4 and, if necessary, 5:

Game 1: Wednesday, April 3 - Colorado at Idaho

Game 2: Thursday, April 4 - Colorado at Idaho

Game 3: Saturday, April 6 - Idaho at Colorado

Game 4: Sunday, April 7 - Idaho at Colorado

Game 5: Tuesday, April 9 - Idaho at Colorado **

Game 6: Friday, April 12 - Colorado at Idaho **

Game 7: Saturday, April 13 - Colorado at Idaho **

The third-seeded Steelheads and sixth-seeded Eagles met eight times during the regular season, with Idaho winning seven of the games. It'll be the first time the two teams have met in the postseason. Tickets for Games 1 and 2 in Boise are on sale now at the CenturyLink Arena box office. Future games will be put on-sale once it is determined that the games will be played.

Other first-round matchups in the Western Conference are as follows:

(1) Alaska Aces vs. (8) San Francisco Bulls

(2) Ontario Reign vs. (7) Utah Grizzlies

(4) Stockton Thunder vs. (5) Las Vegas Wranglers

Idaho, which began play in 1997 as a member of the now-defunct WCHL, has never missed the playoffs. The team has two championship banners hanging inside CenturyLink Arena, representing Kelly Cup championships won in 2004 and 2007. The team also reached the Kelly Cup finals in 2010.

The ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, presented by KeyBank, return to CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday and Thursday, April 3 and 4, to open a best-of-seven, first-round matchup against the Colorado Eagles.
