
Redbirds Dominate Knights on Wednesday Night in Charlotte

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds flipped the script in game two of a six game series at the Charlotte Knights at Truist Field in Charlotte, N.C. on Tuesday night, taking the win with a final score of 14-0.
For the fourth time this season, the Redbirds blasted five home runs in Wednesday night's victory. The win marked the second time Memphis had hit five home runs at Truist Field, the last coming in an 11-inning victory on April 13.
Shortstop Paul DeJong, right fielder Conner Capel and first baseman Luken Baker all cranked a home run for the second straight game. Redbirds catcher Ivan Herrera celebrated his 22nd birthday with four hits, including a three-run homer to left-center field in the top of the sixth. Designated hitter Ali Sanchez hit his second home run of the season, a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to put the Redbirds up 12-0.
The big inning came in the sixth for Memphis, scoring six runs on six hits, each coming with two outs. The Redbirds also added four runs in the top of the eighth, with the final pair scoring on a second baseman Kramer Robertson single. For the second time this season, every Memphis starter registered at least one base hit. Memphis also recorded at least one hit in every inning.
Redbirds starter Connor Thomas put together his best outing of the year. The left-handed pitcher tossed a season-high 6.2 scoreless innings and 102 pitches. He also tied a season-low in hits allowed with three and struck out six batters to earn his third win of the season.
The Memphis Redbirds (28-22) will head to Charlotte, North Carolina for game three of a six-game series against the Charlotte Knights (18-32) on Thursday, June 2 for a 6:04 p.m. CDT first pitch.
