Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights dropped game two of the six-game series against the Memphis Redbirds by a score of 14-0 on Wednesday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.
A night after the Knights scored 14 runs en route to a win in the opener on Tuesday, the Redbirds scored 14 runs on Wednesday to even up the series. In all, the Redbirds recorded 18 hits, including five home runs on the night.
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez started as Charlotte's designated hitter and went 1-for-4 at the plate on Wednesday night. Jimenez, who began his major league rehab assignment on Saturday in Durham, played for the first time since that game. He is currently on Chicago's injured list with a right hamstring strain.
LHP John Parke (1-5, 7.46) started for the Knights and was charged with the loss. The University of South Carolina product allowed six runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings pitched.
The Knights managed a total of four hits on the evening. Second baseman Yolbert Sánchez led the way with a two-hit game.
The Knights will continue the series against the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) on Thursday night with a 7:04 p.m. game from Uptown Charlotte. The game can also be heard live on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action.
