Albany River Rats News Release
Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats today announced that their annual "Teddy Bear Toss" will be held during the Saturday, December 10th game against the Providence Bruins at 7:00pm. Fans are encouraged to bring unwrapped plush toys to the game and throw them on to the rink during one of the game's intermissions. All toys collected that night will be donated to Ronald McDonald House as holiday presents for the children and families they serve.
"The River Rats are happy to continue this tradition of providing toys during this special time of year to the great people at the Ronald McDonald House," said River Rats President /CEO S. Garen Szablewski. "If the past is any indication, the support of our players, staff and fans will make 2005 one of the best Holiday Seasons the Capital District has seen."
In addition to the Teddy Bear Toss, the River Rats will collect new and unwrapped toys at each of the Pepsi Arena entrances during the December 10TH home game. Fans that bring unwrapped toys or stuffed animals to the game will have the opportunity to participate in the "Toss" and win great prizes for their aim.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region provides comfort, support, and respite for families of seriously ill children. The organization provides a home-like environment with the Ronald McDonald House of Albany and the Family Room in the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center, and awards grants to various programs in the community that strive to enhance the lives of children.
The Albany River Rats, in their 13th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
