Marlies goin double-blue in weekend set with Dogs
December 1, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies today announced that they will be wearing special Toronto Argonaut style jerseys when they take-on the Hamilton Bulldogs - AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens - in a weekend home-and-home series beginning this Friday evening at Copps Coliseum. The jersey will feature a predominant navy blue colour with light blue shoulder striping and trim. The Marlies' visiting white logo remains as their primary crest for both games. The Bulldogs will wear white jerseys with black and gold striping and trim in representation of the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The weekend series, the fifth and sixth regular-season meetings between the teams this season, will highlight the longstanding CFL rivalry between the Argonauts and Tiger Cats. Hamilton leads the all-time CFL series with a record of 113-77-2. Toronto does however sport a 15-1-1 record over the teams' last 17 meetings.
Saturday night's home-game at Ricoh Coliseum will feature three members of this past season's Argonaut squad. Cornerback Adrion Smith, along with linebackers Michael Fletcher and Chuck Winters, will participate in the ceremonial face-off and will also partake in on-ice intermission activities. The Argonotes band will perform live in Marlies' Alley prior to game-time and then intermittently throughout the game in section 116. Members of the Blue Thunder Argo Dance Team will also be on hand.
Beginning this Friday evening, the Argonaut-style player game-worn jerseys will be available for sale through auction on eBay - The World's Online Marketplace. The bidding price for each individual jersey begins at $250 (all figures Canadian) while a minimum $10 increment is accepted for each bid thereafter. All jersey auctions will close next Friday, December 9th. Fans are encouraged to click on individual player names to determine the exact auction-close time. Each jersey will arrive via certified mail with an accompanying letter of authenticity. Fans interested in placing a bid can access the list of available jerseys by clicking a link while visiting www.torontomarlies.com - the official online home of the Marlies.
The Marlies and Hamilton Bulldogs face-off on Saturday evening at Ricoh Coliseum. Game time is 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, please call 416-597-PUCK or visit www.torontomarlies.com
